Way down yonder on the Chattahochee

We had a fun time kayaking up the river to our favorite fishing spots and then going back down once the dam was open!

week narrative

It's been a funny week. Kirk is in Florida for work, which isn't all bad. Sometimes it's nice like a break, the house slips a little, dinner quality slips a lot, you know. The bummer is it rained, no no it poured almost everyday which is great for the plants but we've been stuck in the house or running little errands so I think by the time Kirk gets back we are going to be a bit stir crazy. I've gotten in 2 workouts, I don't know if I can make a difference in the short time we have before the wedding but I'll try. I had Mike Olsen and his wife Madie over for dinner, it turns out Maddie is the little sister of a friend in my ward! What a small world huh?? And I didn't have soda yesterday!! I did have 2 pieces of texas sheet cake, which as ungly as it looked tasted really good!

Birthday Thoughts

So I'm about to 35 and my 15th anniversary is next month, both of those numbers seem a little high for my taste, but I suppose that is how it must be. Having a birthday right by the 4th of July holiday means my birthday date usually means we go to dinner and see a big budget action movie, because what other movies play on a major holiday?? I think we saw Spiderman one birthday and it will mostly likely be Transformers this year, maybe next year it will be GIJoe, does that come out sooner than that?
Anyway I'm very excited for the wedding coming up! It's been a little stressful finding deals for flights, hotels and car rentals, babysitters and of course the outfit. It will all be worth it in a few short weeks! Kirk hasn't been to Seattle yet so I'm totally excited to get him out there, on a ferry and eating at that FABULOUS restaurant on Bainbridge, mmmm yum!!
Until them I better go do some more laundry, figure out dinner, and try really really hard to not read the latest book that paperback swap just sent me! I give myself a 20% success rate on the last item. Maybe if I just let myself read the first chapter, and if you believe that I'm moving to Cali next month!

Day Dreams, not whiskers on kittens

I spend some time fantasizing about what I would like to be when I grow up. I have for quite some time thought I really should have been a nurse like mom, they are helpful to everyone and they get to wear scrubs. I don't know what it is, but I really like scrubs, I like to wear them and I like to look at people in them. Not really good reasons to be a nurse, but whatever, it's my daydream. Now Sunday Matt comes up to me and says I think I have a tick in my hair, so I roll my eyes (of course i roll my eyes, when am I not rolling my eyes) and gesture him to show me and sure enough there is a giant tick attached to him head. Here is where I know I can't be a nurse, it was so gross I gagged and insisted he go wake up him Dad from his fathers day nap and have him deal with it, because I AM NOT! I didn't help, I didn't watch all I did was make sure they remembered every step, like hello disinfect it once it's out!! Make sure you got the whole head. Even now I feel like vomiting, I think I will come up with a new dream and just be happy wearing my scrubs to bed.

My kaleidoscope garden

I know I'm weird, but I was in the garden today and was loving how many different colors I have right now. So many people here do only certain plants and they are everywhere, yellow day lily and red knockout rose. Its a beautiful and easy combination and I admit I have it in the front, but the back is where I have my fun. I suppose next I'll be out there taking pictures of my raspberries, apples, peas, beans, squash and lavender. The neighbors already think I'm odd so why not? kaleidoscope, hmm well the spell check says it's right so who am I to argue??

Fun news

Well I took Matt into the Dr today to make sure he didn't have H1N1, swine flu or strep throat and luckily for us he doesn't. A couple of boys from scout camp have it, I didn't think he did but I wasn't 100% positive. On Sunday while he was passing the sacrament he went white as a ghost and started swaying, we took him right home but he's still been sick. And now Elle has a slight fever and headache, the DR thinks it's just some viral bug, kinda a nasty cold or something. So that was good news. I also have my yearly case of poison ivy. It's on my neck and a rather uncomfortable spot, that begins with a B. LOL sorry I know none of you want to know this, but I have to say it, because it REALLY itches and I am not sure how it ended up there. Kirk pulled out a bunch of it from the front yard but I stayed far away. Although I did bring him a drink and then took the cup from him, but I'm pretty sure I didn't then rub the glass against said spot. My neck makes some sense. Knowing me it started on my neck and then began to move. Every year I get this and over the next few months it will continue to pop up in different spots, poison ivy loves me! I do not love it!

pointless ramble

So Matt is gone this week for BS camp like I mentioned before. I was expecting a quiet nice week, but Connor is filling in for Matt by picking on the next younger brother so there has been no rest for the wicked. At one point Connor was sitting on Matt's bed playing xbox against AJ who was in the basement playing and I thought this would be really nice if Connor could have his own room, so AJ could have his own. Combine this thought with the idea we had for maybe 5 hours of moving to Ft Lauderdale and we looked at houses with 5 bedrooms so everyone could have their own space, it was a nice thought. It made me think back on when we were in law school in a 2 bedroom apartment above a parking garage and I had all three kids in room. I realized I totally couldn't remember how my family fit into the house on Hyde. Up until Bex I think Ken and Bard shared a room while Marshall and I had our own, and then I think Bard and Marshall shared while Ken and Bex did, is that right? Weird I can remember Bex's crib, but then it triggers back to what I remember as Kens crib in Utah and it gets blurry after that. I don't really remember my original thought as I started this post, I'm babysitting some nieces and a nephew and I took a excedrine for a headache, so there you go. Is my point that it's ok to share a room? Again don't know. :-) And don't worry we aren't moving.
