Addictions not being enabled by Libraries

Since I have an acknowledged addiction to reading I've been trying to get more books from the library. Ours is rather small but the local libraries are connected so I can request something online and they get it from another. So anyway there are several new books coming out that I would really like to read, but that I don't feel like I must own, therefore the library is perfect, right?? NO. I am number 107 for one of the books, do you realize how long that will take for me to get my turn? What if all those people take their whole month to read it? I'm number 72 for another!! How did all these people find the book to put on hold before me?? And there is another down side, a book I wanted to read but not own came out last fall, I was number 63 to get to check it out. I was patient and I waited my turn and I just got it 3 weeks ago, and what happened? I was so not in the mood to read it! I tried, I kept it for my whole turn and I just couldn't get past the first few chapters, so I returned it! However I am number 2 and 3 for some other books that I happened to see were available to put on hold before they are released. So I guess I'll have to spend a little time each night searching through the hundreds of pre-order books to see if an author I liked is out on there, hardly seems like a solution!

Success at last!

Well Kirk is thrilled he finally has his first place pinewood derby trophy and I'm thrilled it over and I can get my kitchen counters back! It was a well run race, it only took 1 hour!! And our fabulous leader even got trophies and medals, so the mislabeled trophy I bought is still hidden in the car. We celebrated with 5 guys after and ow everyone is happy playing video games, while I clean graphite off the counters! And the picture up there of the times, Aj came in that time at 3.104 and the other was 3.225!! Good thing it's computerized!

JUST CAN'T GET OVER IT

TWO THOUSAND FRICKIN EIGHT!!!

Trophy madness

Every year we order our boys a pinweood derby trophy because our ward doens't give out trophies and Kirk lovd getting them as a kid. The nice thing about this year is we only have one son left in cub scouts so I only had one trophy. Since I was gone all lat week for the funeral I totally forgot to order one until late Wednesday night so I had to hurry and get my order in to get it back by Friday. Anyone want to guess what I did?? Anyone?? come on I know you can, think it's Bonnie, she's exhausted from a emotionaly and physically draining week.... Yes I put Andrew Johnston 2008 Pinewood Derby, Most Awesome Car. 2008 AGHHHHH Why wouldn't the trophy people call and say, are you sure you want 2008 and not 2009? Didn't anybody think that was odd???? I'm kinda hoping he won't notice it, but knowing the Johnstons and Matt someone will point it out. Mother of the year 2008 I mean 2009!

Matt's quest for stories

Matt loves to hear the funny stories of Kirks family when they were kids, and he has complained to me that we don't have the same funny stories. Such as Kyle being left by his Dad at the local gas station when he was buying a drink while his Dad picked up the pizza next door, or their Grandma having 14 year old Kyle driving her to the store leaving a hit and run, you know those kind of memories. We have some funny ones, like AJ flying off the back of the jet ski when I gunned it. So last night Matt accidentaly set the carpet in his room on fire, and what is one of the first things he tells me?? Well this will be a funny story when I'm older! What?? Yes in 20years the fact that he burned two shoe sized patches in his not even a year old carpet that I'm still paying for will indeed make for a good story.

Grandma Parnells funeral

I wanted to post this so that those who were unable to make it to Arkansas for Grandma Parnell's funeral could see what it all looked like. I hope this is okay for everyone. The service was sweet and small with her neighbors, friends, fellow church members, cousins even her house cleaner who cried the loudest. The Pastor spoke twice, a little bit of love for Grandma and a lot of fire and brimstone for Marsha. He opened it up for people who wanted to speak, so I got up and said I wanted to say something for her grandchildren who loved her. I said I couldn't think of the perfect story but I had something for the 5 senses. Taste was her introducing me to bread with butter on it and orange marmalade jam when I stayed with her over a summer. Smell was her perfume which was so strong when she saw AJ in the hospital the day after he was born I had to change his clothes and give him a bath. Sight was her love of bright colors in her clothes and lipstick, Sound was hearing her lovely southern accent calling me Hun and darling and the beautiful way she whistled. I always thought she was the best whistler in the world. And finally touch was for the way she touched my lives and all of us there, for raising 3 wonderful kids, one of whom was my Dad who is the best Dad I know. Her touch will go through me and my kids for generations to come.
I cried and cried, I admit it. Marsha laughed at me and said her mother said that southern women don't cry in public. We had a beautiful video made with pictures of her life and that made me cry the most. I am grateful for my knowledge that she is with the people she loved and that I will see her again.

More fun Bonnie moments

I'd like to take a minute and talk about my favorite subject, my complete failures. I realize I cover this subject a lot but I have a lot of opportunities to let everyone see my failures since I rarely do them in private. My first one was yesterday evening. I went to Costco and got my groceries for the big Johnston family dinner at my house tonight, so this included the giant $30 bag of frozen chicken breasts, the four packet of Costco bacon, broccoli, asparagus, butter you know that stuff. Oh and a pizza, if you are shopping at Costco on a Sat night you might at well have a $10 pizza for dinner, so I got home and brought in the pizza. We ate it, I got ready for Stake Women's meeting at the stake center, drove to pick up my sis in law. When I got her she asked for a water bottle which is in my trunk and I said sure let me pull over and I'll get it, and she told me no she could wait until we got there. It's about 25 mins to drive there. So we got to the stake center, open my trunk and there are all the groceries. The chicken is starting to thaw, it's like 70 out there. So I walked Olivia in sat her by some friends and drove home to put my groceries away. This is when I remember very clearly that I had, had the feeling to just stop and get her the bottle of water when we were by her house which would have allowed me to find the groceries and run back home, so once again I missed the prompting until too late. SO this morning I got Kirk and Matt up early because Matt needed to be at church 45 mins before church started, so they left and I'm running around getting kids ready and Kirk calls me from church. He doesn't say hi, he just says, spring forward, and I knew what we had done!! Totally forgot about the time change, which happens to alot of people I know, BUT I am the chorister at church. The Bishop got up this morning and started the meeting before anyone realized I was not there and there wasn't a sub. The ward music coordinator got up and directed for me, but the opening song she didn't know very well and closed the song before the final chorus and started to sit down. So she got to look silly because I out her on the spot by not being better prepared, story of my life! Luckily my other calling is in nursery so most people never saw me today and so won't guess that I was late but that I was absent, although them asking for a chorister from the pulpit might make it look like I wasn't there and just didn't bother getting a sub, hmm don't know whats worse??

MMMM soda

So I quit drinking Coke yesterday after having it for lunch at Costco. Which I had to have, after all it's 1.50 for a hot dog AND coke, I can't say no thank you to the coke it's included in the price! Therefore I was obligated to drink it, and then I quit again. So today I had a Pepsi and I can't regret it because it was a fountain Pepsi with the worlds best ice, that rabbit pellet kind of ice. I try to not drive by the gas station that offers this enticing beverage and ice or it calls to me like Odysseys, I can't help it. But I will defiantly quit again because we have spring break coming up next month and I am hoping with every fiber of being ( "except for your four fastest ships", anyone?? that comes up because my fibers really hope for blessings upon all my family members, but after that every fiber left over is hoping,) for warm weather on spring break so I will in a bathing suit and not completely covered up. At this point that would not be a pretty sight. Can I make a big difference in 4 weeks? I don't know but I'm sure drinking soda will make it definite no.
