BTW I have had a massive headache for 3 days that no excedrin or pepsi can touch!! Annoying!! I think it's my spring cold coming on and I'm not happy about it! It made the family dinner at our house this Sunday not my best but still good!

Aj's latest meet

AJ had a meet this weekend at Oglethorpe University. They got to meet Justin Spring a Olympic medalist from the 2008 team, he signed AJ's meet teeshirt and program. It was a really venue to be in the university, finally enough seating! But it's a big meet with teams from 3 states so obviously it was a tough one. AJ got some of his best scores ever and just missed getting a medal by mere fraction of a point. A bummer for AJ as this is the first time he is leaving empty handed. We talked about the level of competitors this time, and the fact that he's only been doing this since August where lots of these kids have been doing it since the were 5 and 6. Not to mention he has missed several practices due to sickness and car accidents! Helloo!! I'm very proud of him and he knows the most important thing is to have fun!

Latest fun, does it ever stop?

It's been a eventful week. I have found my blog to be cathartic for me. A journal of sorts. However as my list of friends and followers has extended I've debated just how much I should say and how much I should keep private. I've considered that I should actually keep a journal. I even got a new journal... but nothing is in it yet.
We had a eventful week. Monday evening I was driving AJ to his gymnastics practice up off exit 17 on the GA 400 when I was hit from behind by a commercial vehicle. I was driving along in traffic when I glanced in the rear view mirror in time to see this truck racing up behind me. I didn't have time to tell AJ to brace himself or anything. I said "Oh Shoot" or some variation clinched up and impact. Luckily it didn't cause my car to swerve into the other lane and the median was grass so I ran off into the grass and stopped my car. I regret to say my first reaction was to jump out of the car and scream at the other driver. He apologized and said he didn't mean to, I immediately cried and apologized for yelling. I must have looked like a psycho nut ( a relation to the pistachio I'm sure) I called the police to report and of course Kirk. The officer cited the other driver for inattention and driving too close and then I drove AJ and myself to the hospital just to be safe. We were both sore, and mostly scared to death. He was released with soft tissue injury, I was sent through X-ray just to be safe but sent on my way with muscle relaxers and pain meds. For how hard we were hit there was a surprising lack of visual damage. We have a ball hitch on that car and it is bent in and the bar it is attached to is cracked and shoved into my spare tire under the car. I've been too nervous to drive it before we have it inspected. The weirdest things hurt, my knees and thighs hurt as much as my back and neck, even my thumb hurt for a few days, go figure! Overall I am just so greatful that it wasn't worse, it certainly very easily couldn't have been fatal, or just plain awful! Kirk and his Dad gave both of us a blessing and it gave me a huge amount of peace :)

Yearbook photo

Here is AJ's 5th grade yearbook photo. He says he's not sure he likes it, but I sure do! This is so AJ, he is constantly in this position! What a stud, look at that straight line and control!

AAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH

I remember when I would come home late as a teenager and I would be late, or possibly coming home after I wasn't supposed to be out and my Dad would be standing outside in the cold, with no shoes or jacket. And I would think, "why does he do that? To make himself more mad?" Well I get it now. Sorry Dad :)

Elle's big father daughter dance!

Tonight Elle had her first father daughter dance at school! She was so excited, we had to go to target and get a new outfit, paint her nails and choose just the right earrings! She wasn't thrilled with her curly hair that I did and she hesitates smiling since 2 of her top teeth are missing. I think she looks darling and I can't believe how old she looks! Kirk was a good sport considering he flew to Florida last night and home again today! His plane last night was speeding down the runway about to take off when there was a loud noise and the plane seemed to almost turn. The pilot came on to say they lost one of the engines! Seconds away from being in the air! After sitting on the plane for almost 2 hours they declared the problem fixed and off the went! I was so glad he didn't call me until he was in Florida safe!! I would have been stressing out for those 5 hours!

Connor and his invention

Connor built this over the weekend by taking apart several other toys and welding together some wire! He is creative! This week he took apart a few old airsoft guns and made his own automatic airsoft gun! Totally cool!
