Funny dreams

Ok I had a funny dream. We are having dinner at our house on Sunday again and so that's why this dream came up, I totally dream about my day. Anyway I was in the kitchen finishing the most scrumptious mashed potatoes ever when everyone arrived and so I went over to the fridge to get something out and there in the fridge was the pot roast that I had bought for dinner! I totally never cooked it, anyway so I thawed out some spicy sausage and made spaghetti. I thought it was funny, and not out of the realm of possibility!

Library Woes and Triumphs

So I've already admitted that I read, a lot. So it's easy to guess that I really can't buy all the books that I want to read, my used bookstore really isn't all that cheap. Which means I have come to depend on the library quite a bit. They don't have everything I want especially if it's the oldest book in a series that I'm just discovering that was begun early 90's or heaven forbid the 80's!! There are some books that as much as I like to read, I really don't want to own, which is way the library is helpful. Here is it's downfall however, when I request a book that's coming out if I don't scour the new releases daily I have on occasion been very very high on the request list. I think my record was # 165!! One Hundred and sixty five people have to go to the library and check out the book read it, return in order for me to get my turn!! All just to save myself between 8 and 20$. Now if this was an occasionally thing then that would be silly, but that brings us back to how much I read. Currently I have 18 books on hold that I am waiting for, some don't come out for months, some are out but the wait list as I explained can be long. Currently my longest wait is 164 out of 168 hold requests and it doesn't come out until this fall. The other book I was that high on I'm now down to 75!! Happy day! And the exciting moment that brought this blog on??? Well the book I've been on the wait list for since January is going to be mine in the next day!! And waiting for 5 months saved me 8.99 at borders!! Even sadder, I don't have my checking account memorized, but I have my library code memorized!!

Seattle trip

Too much to write so I've been avoiding it, which just compounds the too much to write issue!! I went out to Seattle to take Bex and J's engagement photos. I was soo nervous, if I had just happened to be there and have a camera it would be no big deal, but I flew out there for it specifically and it was their last weekend together to get it done, so there was significant pressure. However how can a picture NOT turnout with such a good looking couple and in such a gorgeous background?? And how can it not be wonderful when they are following in the footsteps of Bard and Rick and Ken and Kris, it's bound to be wonderful!! Needless to say my beach pictures when we were engaged did not work out and we were stuck with studio pictures which I smiled so big in you could see my molars. What was the name of that blond actress that smiled that big, I think she was in Annie get your gun or calamity Jane?? Anyway that was me, plus Kirk and I had run to the studio after finishing a final we had been up all night studying for. But really whats an engagement photo once you get the wedding photos?? Puts it in perspective. Anyway we had such a fun time that day. There was about 15 beds on the beach with girls pretending to sleep in them and then moving in time to music playing in the background. Eventually boats came in from the ocean carrying girls with giant horse heads on and all the girls proceeded to dance on the beach, very very odd to say the least. There were some great shots with Rainier in the back ground and some cute ones of them doing the karate kid, whats that move called? The crane or something? Anyway it's hard to be back to reality and laundry and holes in the neighbors siding, and me being on west coast time and the kids being on east coast time isn't exactly the best, but hey it's summer!!

To hawk or not to hawk? Is it a childs choice?

Ok I guess there are times when a Mom has to draw a line or let her child try something new. Making this choice has given me the worst headache I've had in months, bad enough I even took an Excedrin after 7 which is death for my sleep cycle! Matt and I have been going back and forth about his hair, it was really long but he would only cut it if he could try something crazy. Then I thought well it's the last week of school and it will grow out, so here is the result. He is ecstatic to say the least, along with his braces he is loving his new look. The woman who worked on his braces today talked him into purple rubber bands, I am not joking. I am going to have a talk with Mike!!! The arrow of light picture is his before picture.

Order of the Arrow

Well I'm sure my followers have been waiting with baited breath to hear about Matt's Order of the Arrow ordeal!! He left Friday night and got back about midnight Saturday night, he was the youngest from our ward to go. I wasn't so worried about Matt sleeping in the woods by himself or doing hard manual labor, I was however very worried he would not be able to go the whole time without speaking!! It rained all Friday and that night the organizers delayed everything to see if it would stop so they go walk the boys out but it really was quite the flood, so the boys actually slept under a pavilion, which they said was awful since it was concrete and the rain was blowing in sideways on them. Which was too bad, I think sleeping outside by himself sounded fun. The next day their breakfast was a hard boiled egg and glass of milk, thinking of it makes my want to vomit! Then lunch was a hot dog on a bun, also vomit worthy!! They had to clean out all sorts of things for a summer camp, carry jugs of sand from one location to another and pick little candlesticks out of the sand and clean and sweep various locations. Matt said it was exhausting and demeaning, lol. He told me he almost had to give up and quit when a boy kicked fire ants all over him, not sure it was an accident. Nevertheless he persevered and earned his sash!! I am so proud of him and all his hard work!! He came home smelling awful and of un-namable things, but happy!

Good Times

Fun times down here in the south. Matt is my height, his voice has dropped and he has his braces on!! Fun rights of passage, would that be rite of passage?? Anyway it is however you spell it. Connor is in his last two weeks of elementary school and he sure acts like, moodiness has kicked in. Remember how I used to laugh because Matt would always want a hug at that age, he didn't care where his face hit on my body he would just stand there and hug and hug me. Not Connor, he likes me to hug him sometimes but when I do he immediately turns his back to me so I'm hugging him from behind. It's his own thing I guess, he does occasionally hold my hand in stores which I really like. AJ would rather die a slow painful death then be hugged or kissed, but you can tickle him till the cows come home! And Elle my lovely girl would do any of these things, although as of yet she isn't all that insistent on being cuddled. When she reads me books she's beside me, sometimes she tries out butterfly kisses which I love. It never ceases to amaze me when she reads a book I thought might be too hard, I may actually get one reader out of my kids!
I had a fantastic girls weekend last week. Ten of us from church went down to Destin and talked about self esteem, centering on life on the right things. And to help along we had one girl wax our eyebrows and lips, we painted our toes and one girls whose Hubby is a dentist brought super whitening strips!! Remember how Sean Austin talked in 50 first dates, that's how I sounded. I found that around these girls I immediately become the joker, one liners pop into my head constantly and I make a joke out of everything. I can be serious, but it's so much fun to laugh. I spent alot of my time at the beach in the water, which was so warm and so turquoise! Even up to my neck I could see the bottom! The waves there don't pound your face into the sand the way northern CA did so I swam and swam to my hearts content. The joke was the other girls would come swim with me to make sure I didn't start swimming to Mexico... Good times! And the food, wow! I ate the most incredible fish and lobster and crab, it was amazing!! We think this should be a pre-mothers day tradition!!

Deals

I got teased for not putting up a picture of my brand new fridge so I might as well go with my initial instinct and put up the picture!! This is my new fridge, it's not perfect but it's new and clean and fairly quiet!! Here is the story with it, I found several fridges that I really liked at various location's but most of them couldn't get them to me for several days and some up to 2 weeks! So I found one at Lowes, it wasn't the side by side model that I had wanted, it's a french door type thing, meaning the freezer is in the bottom, but it could be delivered the next day which was perfect. Lowes called me that morning and said there was a problem with the new fridge and so they were sending me the floor model. I being a total wimp said fine, I just wanted the fridge you know?? Anyway family and friends alike were appalled that I would get a floor model fridge, esp for the price I paid. But it gave me such a headache every time I started to call them back and complain that I totally wimped out and never called. So today, Monday, my friend Celeste called them and pretended to be me and she got the guy down $600!!!!! I am delighted and appalled that I would have missed out on that kind of savings!!! Anyway I am thrilled to have a working fridge and loving that it was a deal!!! Hmmm where should I take her next??
